Our Ensembles
At Owensboro High School, our band program is home to a variety of ensembles, each offering students a unique opportunity to grow as musicians and performers. Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band at Owensboro High School, known for its precision, musicality, and advanced repertoire. This elite group of musicians performs at the highest level, tackling challenging compositions and participating in state and national competitions. Students in the Wind Ensemble are selected based on auditions and are expected to demonstrate exceptional talent and dedication.
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band provides an opportunity for intermediate-level musicians to perform advanced concert band literature. With a focus on refining technique and expanding musical skills, the Symphonic Band is a critical step for students aspiring to join the Wind Ensemble. This group performs at concerts and festivals throughout the school year, representing the school with pride.
Marching Band
The Owensboro Marching Panthers are the heart and soul of our school spirit. Known for their dynamic performances on the field, the Marching Band participates in regional and state competitions, as well as halftime shows during football season. Combining music with intricate choreography, the Marching Panthers deliver thrilling performances that leave audiences in awe.
Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble is dedicated to students who wish to specialize in percussion instruments. Red Steel
The Red Steel ensemble brings the vibrant sounds of the Caribbean to Owensboro. This steel drum band plays music with a distinctive island flavor, combining rhythm and melody to create a fun and engaging performance. Jazz Band
The Owensboro Jazz Band explores the rich traditions of jazz music, from swing to bebop and beyond. Color Guard
The Owensboro Color Guard is a visual performance group that accompanies the Marching Band, adding dynamic movement and artistry to each performance. Through the use of flags, rifles, and dance, the Color Guard enhances the musical experience for the audience. The team competes in regional and state competitions and is a vital part of the band’s field shows.
